Background of the Study

Taxation policies play a pivotal role in the financial reporting process of businesses in any region. In Mubi South LGA, tax compliance is a crucial aspect of the local government’s revenue generation, and businesses are expected to report their financial data accurately for taxation purposes. However, inconsistencies in financial reporting due to a lack of understanding of tax policies or inefficiencies in the taxation system may lead to inaccurate financial reports, which in turn affect the integrity of the local economy. This study explores the impact of taxation policies on the accuracy of financial reporting in Mubi South LGA.

1. H₀: Taxation policies do not significantly affect the accuracy of financial reporting in Mubi South LGA.

2. H₀: Challenges in complying with tax regulations do not significantly impact the accuracy of financial reporting in Mubi South LGA.

3. H₀: Improving compliance with tax regulations does not significantly enhance the accuracy of financial reporting in Mubi South LGA.

Significance of the Study

The findings of this study will highlight the importance of effective taxation policies in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, helping to improve tax compliance and revenue generation in Mubi South LGA. It will also provide recommendations that could assist businesses in better adhering to tax regulations.

The study focuses on the relationship between taxation policies and financial reporting accuracy in Mubi South LGA. Limitations include difficulties in accessing accurate business financial data and potential reluctance from businesses to share tax-related information.
